With a phenomenal fusion of diverse cultures, travel destinations and eccentric traditions around the world reflected in peerless motifs and chic designs, ‘Aks’, the breathtaking collection by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers, enthralled the ramp at IIJW Mumbai, 2014.
From vintage coins to magical inscriptions to ancient modernistic paintings and sculptures, the riveting jewellery of Aks had it all wrapped in its gems, with a contemporary twist. Embellished with sparkling diamonds, rubies, emeralds, uncut, rose cut and the iconic yellow canary diamonds, Aks revealed an exquisite array of jewels representing time and its eternal imprints in our lives.
With ‘Reflection of time’ as the central theme, Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers stunned the audience with its larger than life set which was a kaleidoscope of dancing colors, historic arts and sundry facets of past depicted by mesmerizing mirror and glass work. The National film, television and theater artiste, Rajit Kapur, introduced the collection in his profound voice.
The highlight of the glamorous evening was the young and beautiful showstopper and the leading Indian film actress, Parineeti Chopra. Parineeti dazzled the runway in a strapless black floor sweeping gown bejewelled with a gold and pearl necklace a peacock ring and an extremely voguish bracelet from Aks.
Owing to the theme ‘Reflection of time’, the show witnessed a surprise element with three timeless models viz. Dipannita Sharma, Nina Manuel and Ujjwala Raut from India, London and New York respectively. As they came to scorch the ramp from different parts of world & arenas and filled the atmosphere with an air of nostalgia, they reflected a very interesting blend of cultures and art representing the very essence of Aks.
The ramp saw a colourful riot of Sarees, Anarkalis and Indo-Western outfits, all designed by the renowned fashion designer Shyamal & Bhumika. The show was impeccably choreographed by the leading Indian choreographer Achla Sachdev.
