Birdhichand’s Jewellery boutique now in Country’s Capital- New Delhi!

After enticing pink city’s royals with its colossal showroom, Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jaipur’s recently opened the sprawling 1800 sq ft store located in one of the posh districts of Central Delhi. Featuring a scrumptious smörgasbord of the fine art of jewellery & a lavish architecture, the new store looks like a whimsical museum.

The label’s second standalone boutique in the country and first in the Indian capital, whiffs of a soothing welcome with softly textured walls at the entry vestibule, inspired by the colonial art. With a greeting room to hail, the store gives way to a single-styled theme inspired by the Art-Deco movement that originated in the 1920s.

Paying homage to the royal mansions of Rajasthan, space exudes a gentle fusion of British Colonial style and Rajasthan’s architecture typified by custom-made French-styled furniture, extensive use of multiple kinds of wood, and an ethereal celebration of pastel silhouettes. Swathed in a luxurious mood, the design centres on a plush space with antique showpieces, French-styled mirrored console tables, warm ship wood flooring, plush carpets and the walls painted in a delicate sage green Pantone. Balmy colours, finely curated antiques and a flamboyant display of the bespoke jewellery designs reflect the brand’s fondness for an art-filled extravagance.

Divided into several columns, the well-lit boutique is reminiscent of Baradari – a popular symbolism of Rajasthan’s architecture where pillars are a significant part of the design layout. Also, ranging from the motifs on the floor to the shape of the mirrors, from the sturdy pillars to the revamped logo of Birdhichand, octagon remains an unswerving element of design throughout the openly spaced store.

The style haven is designed in a layout that feels domestic and much like an opulently created home. The greeting room is followed by a large living area punctuated by partition screens exclusively designed with natural vegetable-dyed block prints. From the bucket art crystal vase by F & C Osler to the spectacular centrepiece – a chandelier from the Bikaner Palace, dating back to the 1900s, the store is a luxe spread oozing royalty & magnificence. For the weary shoppers, the store is sprinkled with cosy wooden chairs & calming couches which have been hand woven in accordance with the taste of the store. A part of the Birdhichand collection has been neatly displayed in the glass-framed almirahs, along with several object d’art that have caught the designer’s eyes over the years.

While walking towards the end of the boutique store, a wooden door aligned with fine floral fabrics transports you to a surreal land called The Bridal Room. Made of white oak wood, the Bridal Room is the place where dreams come true. A Venetian octagonal mirror and French candle stands are a few relics of the ancients that add a sense of exclusivity & charm to the most eminent room of the boutique store. A wooden trunk specially designed in Jaipur has been placed on the left-hand side of the room, offering a theatrical experience where the bride would be seated and styled in the bespoke jewellery by Birdhichand.

The array of jewellery designs adorned by around 50 installations was a surreal walk through an Indian bride’s wonderland where she meets some wondrous rituals and unveils a different shade of her at every step. With allusions to ancient India in its hints of modernity, each design entwines in it a concoction of boldness and delicacy, just like a beatific Indian bride. The signature pieces of the bridal collection have been designed with inlaying of rose cut diamonds and other gemstones in bold pieces of emeralds & rubies adorned by various mannequins representing the different moods of an Indian bride. Emeralds in vivacious hues hailing from different origins, diamonds with various cuts viz. full cut brilliant, rose cut & flat cut in the palette of white, canary yellow & vivid pink, the alluring tanzanite & natural basara pearls add a facet of exclusiveness & opulence to the bridal charm. The customs & traditions of a wedding are woven in the jewellery designs and swathed in flamboyant colors enveloping all the pious ceremonies of an Indian bride.

We are about to bid adieu to the year 2016 and welcome 2017 with open arms. This is the time when we remember the good memories created in the past year and hope to create some more in the year coming up. 2016 was definitely an eventful year for Birdichand Ghanshyamdas with so many achievements to our name. With a phenomenal fusion of diverse cultures, travel destinations and eccentric traditions around the world reflected in peerless motifs and chic designs, ‘Aks’, the breathtaking collection by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers, enthralled the ramp at IIJW Mumbai, 2014.

From vintage coins to magical inscriptions to ancient modernistic paintings and sculptures, the riveting jewellery of Aks had it all wrapped in its gems, with a contemporary twist. Embellished with sparkling diamonds, rubies, emeralds, uncut, rose cut and the iconic yellow canary diamonds, Aks revealed an exquisite array of jewels representing time and its eternal imprints in our lives.

With ‘Reflection of time’ as the central theme, Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers stunned the audience with its larger than life set which was a kaleidoscope of dancing colors, historic arts and sundry facets of past depicted by mesmerizing mirror and glass work. The National film, television and theater artiste, Rajit Kapur, introduced the collection in his profound voice.

Owing to the theme ‘Reflection of time’, the show witnessed a surprise element with three timeless models viz. Dipannita Sharma, Nina Manuel and Ujjwala Raut from India, London and New York respectively. As they came to scorch the ramp from different parts of world & arenas and filled the atmosphere with an air of nostalgia, they reflected a very interesting blend of cultures and art representing the very essence of Aks.

The ramp saw a colourful riot of Sarees, Anarkalis and Indo-Western outfits, all designed by the renowned fashion designer Shyamal & Bhumika. The show was impeccably choreographed by the leading Indian choreographer Achla Sachdev.
